Science has not been able to prove that there is a link between acne treatments and caffeine intake. What we do know is that caffeine increases the levels of stress hormones e.g. cortisol in the body. We also know that acne is triggered by an over active sebaceous gland and that acne remedies sufferers of it have claimed that it worsened during times of high caffeine intake. Is there a link, the saga continues, but many herbalist firmly believe that if you suffer with it, caffeine is just one of the every day beverages that must be avoided; they believe in a wholesome diet for combating acne.

What you should know is that caffeine is a stimulant that boosts your energy for a short period of time, principally the reason why many people have a cup at morning. This very common activity for a lot of us is not normal body function. You should feel full of energy in the morning time after getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep. However, in today's get rid of acne society who gets that amount of sleep, most of us are lucky to get six hours of pimples but the fact remains that the body does its repair and cleansing while we rest. Finally some experts can be quoted as saying that women who consume caffeine containing beverages each day might be more likely to suffer from PMS, severe mood swings, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, constipation and acne. In conclusion give up the acne cure and coffee, drink water instead, and say good bye to acne for good.
